Shenzhen’s internet industry got off to an early start, and the city’s internet companies (of which Tencent is the best known example) have achieved tremendous growth. The “internet+” model has been applied to all sectors of Shenzhen’s economy, such as government administration, community services, finance, production and commerce. Furthermore, Shenzhen was one of the first group of cities approved as Pilot Cities for Building the Nation’s E-Commerce. In 2014, Shenzhen’s internet industry’s added value was 57.108 billion RMB, up 15.30% year on year. The city’s main internet industrial zones/parks included the Futian International E-Commerce Park, Shekou Network Valley, and the Liantang Internet Industrial Park. Two of the better known Shenzhen-based internet enterprises are Tencent and Thunder Networking Technologies.
