The 19th CHTF, the most important hi-tech fair in China, will be held in Shenzhen from Nov. 16 to 21 with the theme of "Focusing on Innovative Drive and Improving Supply Quality". It is estimated that 3,000 exhibitors from over 80 countries and regions will attend. Over 200 members of the media from home and abroad will cover the fair and the number of visitors will exceed 500,000.
On Nov. 8, The city of Shenzhen held a mobilization meeting for the CHTF. The meeting was chaired by Gao Zimin, vice mayor of Shenzhen. Liu Qingsheng, member of Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and executive vice mayor, attended the meeting and made a speech on mobilization.
Shenzhen has made sound preparations and achievements for this year's CHTF. The whole R & D investment for 2016 exceeded 84 billion RMB, accounting for nearly 4.1% of GDP, which is close to the world's first place Israel and second place South Korea (4.23%). There have been about 20,000 PCT international patents created, an increase of about 48%, accounting for 47% of the national PCT applications. It is also home to 11,000 national high-tech enterprises, more than 30,000 science-based enterprises and 12 Unicorn enterprises (startups with market value exceeding 1 billion dollars).
